Dennis Lilliee's aluminium bat which was banned from Test cricket in Perth in 1979.
Dennis Lillee, born on July 18, 1949, in Perth, Australia, was a key figure in the Australian cricket team during the 1970s and early 1980s.
In 1979, Lillee experimented with an aluminum cricket bat during a Test match against England at Perth. The aluminum bat was manufactured by an Australian company. The English team, led by captain Mike Brearley, lodged a formal complaint, arguing that the aluminum bat could potentially damage the cricket ball.
After a brief appearance, the aluminum bat was banned by the cricket authorities, and Lillee returned to using a wooden bat.
