Victor Trumper was one of the great batsmen of his era, and perhaps one of the best to ever take up the game. Among the many treasures in the New Zealand Cricket Museum collection we are lucky enough to care for a bat used by Trumper during Australia’s 1905 tour of New Zealand. See the bat and read its story here.
In the photo below, Trumper stands in front of the Lancaster Park scoreboard alongside Sir Arthur Sims. The pair had just hit a World Record 8th wicket partnership of 433 for Sims’ Australia XI against Canterbury in March 1914 – a record that still stands today.
