About this objectHard-bound compilation of meeting minutes for New Zealand Cricket Ltd, a company set up by the New Zealand Cricket Council in 1930 to raise funds for the national cricket team's tour of England in 1931.
The company sold shares to raise funds for the tour, before dissolving in 1932. The Directors of the company at establishment were: AT Donnelly (Chair), P Dalrymple, WH Winsor, DE Wanklyn, J Ramsden, HM Taylor, D Reese, and ER Caygill.
The meeting minutes through the book detail aspects of the tour's organisation, including: itinerary (notes cancellation of match v Wales and attempts to organise match in Canada), player nominations, appointment of manager and responsibilities, playing uniform supplier (and pyjama supplier), medicial certifications, and various other arrangements and financial details.
There are several mentions to the agreement with players which included the stipulation that players must not "for the space of two years after the conclusion of the tour, leave New Zealand for the purpose of accepting or undertaking any engagement as a cricket professional or coach..."
Interspersed among the minutes are official records of share subscribers, including name, address, and purchase details. The names here include many prominent New Zealanders and representative cricketers. The book also includes the registration certificate for the company, dated January 15 1931, and the resolution to liquidate the company on December 4 1932.
