Opened on New Year’s Day 1925, the Museum Stand at the Basin Reserve occupies a site which has housed a grandstand since 1872. Today, it is home to the New Zealand Cricket Museum and it continues to add to the ground and city skyline.

In May 2018, Wellington Mayor Justin Lester, announced the Council would receive a paper recommending the Museum Stand is retained, strengthened, and refurbished.
